Director of Christian Education: Youth and Child Ministries
Second Presbyterian Church, Spartanburg, SC is seeking a full-time Director of Christian Education of Youth and Child Ministries to lead the children and youth of our church by teaching and modeling God’s Word. Some specific job duties include (but are not limited to) coordinating the Christian Education Program for children and youth, coordinate training and recruitment of Sunday School teachers, managing the nursery and toddler room employees and volunteers, developing and leading the youth fellowship programs, working with the pastor in organizing and coordinating the Confirmation class, and participating in pastoral care involving families with children and youth. A primary emphasis at this time will be hands-on involvement, strengthening our mid and senior youth ministries. Second Presbyterian is a financially solid, spiritually strong church of 300 members currently in a rebuilding phase. We are seeking a person committed to their faith in God and their calling to the ministry of Jesus Christ. Second Presbyterian is well-known in the community for its Missions which include a Soup Kitchen, a shelter for homeless women and families, and local, national and international mission trips. Applicants should possess the following qualifications: a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education or related field, a minimum of 2 years experience, administrative, communication, and organizational development, ability to interact well with people of all ages, understanding and use of educational processes and theories, and a knowledge and interpretation of the Reformed faith.
